In 3 words: they create MAGIC!
4th time seeing Queen & Adam Lambert live (and 6th time seeing Adam) should mean that there is nothing that can surprise me anymore, but that's totally wrong. I have no idea how, but every show, every song, every note and every chord always brings new energy and new highs.
Budapest is a very special city. Its beauty is charming and captivating.
After this experience it gained even more appreciation from me. It makes dreams come true!
After several hours in queue -which passed very quickly and slowly at the same time-, we reached the front row (+/-, depending on the pushing crowd) and waited for the show to start.
I kept saying: "Even if it's not the first show I attend, I feel like I'm going to explode. And also I still don't realize I'm actually here, waiting for them."
I have to mention that this was the first tour I haven't known by heart, because I (hardly) held back and didn't watch videos (expect for maybe few seconds from 3-4 songs). So, the excitement was huge!
Setlist:
Few minutes after 8PM the audience got wild and in no time the intro started. It was so cool! What an amazing production. Those effects!
Frank appeared and, seconds after, the "We Will Rock You" beat filled the arena.
Adam entered the stage like a model on the catwalk, next to Brian (who seemed to be the proud dad the whole show). "The new boy", now fronting the legendary band for their second official world tour together, showed (more than ever) confidence and power from the very first minute.
"Killer Queen" was spectacular. I missed the purple couch, but Frank conquered me & the audience in general, too.
By far the cutest moment was "Bicycle Race". Adam's got some skills! He was adorable.
"Get Down, Make Love" was -obviously- the hottest performance. No other words needed.
Brian surprised the Hungarian fans with "Tavaszi Szél", a traditional Hungarian song played also by Freddie Mercury at their Budapest concert back in 1986. The audience sang it with joy and melancholy.
"Love Of My Life" started right after and Brian told the audience that this was the best singing crowd so far. (I know, I know. Poland beat them).
Another memorable moment was the pre-"Somebody To Love" mini-speech, when Brian said to Adam "[...]I had to tell you this though, as a father figure for you". Adam leaned on his shoulder. Lovely!
Also I love the new version of the song.
Roger and Tyler had a drum battle and after that all the band members were introduced to the crowd.
"Under Pressure" was a beautiful eye-contact song. That performance shows the bond between Brian, Roger and Adam.
"Whataya Want From Me" was the show's biggest surprise for the Glamberts, for sure. Also I heard and saw reactions from many Queen fans. Personally, I think the song is a perfect match for their setlist.
Then "Who Wants To Live Forever", which always steals so many tears, was the most impressive performance - both vocally and technically. I'd say it was the most complex one.
"Radio Gaga" gave me my 3rd handshake with Adam. He was very fast, but precised. He wouldn't miss anyone. So sweet and caring!
"Bohemian Rhapsody" was another milestone. Also differently performed than before, it emphasizes even more Adam's heavenly vocals and made everyone feel chills.
Before the encore, the whole arena lightened up and the crowd went wild again.
The end came so fast! You could feel the audicence's nostalgia when "We Are The Champions" started. The screams from our area made Adam aware of us and he pointed at us while walking towards the small stage.
They finished in a powerful way, with Adam and Brian on the small stage. Adam's victorious final pose said it all: he is the champion.
They are the champions!
They had their well-known final bows during "God Save The Queen" and left the stage greeting everyone.
It was beautiful in every way.
No one could forget a night like that. A show like that. A voice like that.
